Becoming a parent transforms the couple as well as the individuals. In other words, it is a fantastic journey, where there are no returns.

This flagship programme from Mind the Mother has been designed to smooth the transition into parenthood, to make the road the least bumpty as possible. It looks at the needs of each individual of the couple, as well as working together as a couple. 

Working together to nurture new parents minds, to ease the transition into parenthood.

 

There are 3 core elements to the programme

Individual Confidence  Couple Consolidation  Family Focused

Most of the usual offering for courses are focused on the baby or on the physical aspects of becoming a mother. Whilst, they can be necessary for different women; this programme focuses on the mind of the parents. It could also be consider as a proactive measure to lower the risk of mental ill health.

The Journey to Parenthood is divided into two parts: Antenatal Journey and Postnatal Journey

The Antenatal Journey focuses on the values, identities and fears of the couple and when thinking of becoming parents. Understanding that the body-mind connection will be the best motor for easing childbirth; it includes a 121 hypnobirthing course with the couple, tailored to your needs. The preparation to becoming a parent is important whether the conception happened after years of trying, being pregnant with a rainbow baby, or if it happened at the first attempt. What it matters, is that you as a couple, want to be strong in your minds when becoming parents.

The Postnatal Journey is all about bonding as a family and still as a couple. We will work on the challenges the first nine months of parenthood are bringing to your family, celebrating the wins, and understanding where you want to go from where you are as parents. You will also have a session with a sex coach expert towards the end of the programme, to work on the couple’s intimacy.

Empowering Parents

When in doubt or in fear, it is hard to give your best. Learn how you could become more confident and feel empowered in your journey through parenthood. Whether it is your first or second or third, it is never too late to feel confident and work on overcoming challenges.

Core elements

Individual Confidence

Understanding the importance of individual needs and developing confidence to thrive in parenthood.

Couple Consolidation

The unity of the couple, as a strong front to battle any challenges of parenthood.

Family Focus

Focus on the bond, respect, and love to grow together. Understanding the dynamics and what growth means for each of you.

The Antenatal part of the Parental Journey is delivered between the week 14th of the pregnancy, up until the birth. 

Supporting the pregnancy journey, into parenthood.

Individual 121 Session - 7 Sessions

Sessions will be held individually with each member of the couple. The aim is to work on any individual concerns, to focus on the mental readiness to become a parent.

Couple Sessions - 4 Sessions

The aim of the sessions is to evaluate the couple’s values. Setting expectations for the different stages of parenthood. Space to reconcile any opinion.

Hypnobirthing Course

The course will be offered individually to the couple. You will have the choice between doing it individually, in which case the course will be tailored to your needs. Or you can join any of the group hypnobirthing courses; which can be great to meet other parents to be.

MP3 Recordings

You will receive MP3 recordings for relaxation, as well as to help with self hypnosis or personalised to what we will be working on.

Materials & Resources

You will receive material to read, or practise. 

Also, affirmations to practice and be ready for the birth.

Support During the Programme

The programme is not limited to the sessions or appointments we have together. You will also have telephone and email support for when you most need it.

The Postnatal part of the Parental Journey is usually between the birth and up to 9 month after it.

Supporting parents during the 4th trimester and beyond.

Individual 121 Session - 5 Sessions

Sessions will be held individually with each member of the couple. The aim is to work on any individual concerns, to focus any changes percieved during the first few months of parenthood.

Couple Sessions - 5 Sessions

We will work on the new transition to couple’s dynamic. Reconciling the expectations, values, with the reality.

Baby & Parent Bonding

A session to work on the connection between the new family member and the parents.

Assessment and practical tools for the bonding. 

Couple's Intimacy Session

The programme includes a 2 hour session with a Sex coach. This session is delivered towards the end of the programme, to work on the parents as a couple. 

MP3 Recordings

You will receive MP3 recordings for relaxation, as well as to help with self hypnosis or personalised to what we will be working on.

Support During the Programme
